Explore the World of Plant Based Scent

Are you interested in natural fragrance? Fragrance that comes from plants not out of a chemists’ laboratory. Come out to Tuahiwi Botanicals (5 minutes from Kaiapoi) and experience a morning smelling fragrant plants and the essential oils that come from them. Learn how to use these natural essential oils to make your own fragrant body care products and take these products home (valued at over $30).

Workshop Outline

Begin your morning at Tuahiwi Botanicals with a cup of herbal tea grown on the property then have a guided tour through the fragrant herb gardens. This is an opportunity to experience the taste and smell of a large number of different herbs and other fragrant plants.

After this, head inside to experience the essential oils that come from these plants and many other plants, seeds, bark and grasses. Learn how to smell these essential oils effectively and then spend some time studying in depth, a small number of essential oils.

Using these skills, you can then blend your own perfume oil and make a perfumed body oil to take home. If you would like, you can also make a personalised herbal tea to take home.

A flavourful morning tea made from the herb garden will be provided. The workshop will run for 3 hours from 10am to 1pm and cost $50 per person.

For more information you can email cathy at tuahiwibotanicals@gmail.com or go to Workshops in the store.
